Ranchi's table since 1987.
Kaveri is a 100% pure-vegetarian family restaurant on Main Road — crisp masala dosas, the famous veg thali, North Indian classics and the cold coffee half the city grew up on.
The house
Our story starts before Kaveri — with Punjab Sweet House, the sweet shop our family opened around Independence. Four decades on Main Road, and still pure veg.
In 1987 the next generation took that same kitchen discipline and opened Kaveri in the G.E.L. Church Shopping Complex — a proper family restaurant where the food would always be 100% vegetarian and the door open to everyone: families, students, the office crowd, wedding parties.
Nearly forty years later, it's a Main Road institution. The masala dosa is famous, the Kaveri Special Veg Thali is a rite of passage, and our catering arm carries the same table to weddings and events across the city.

Crisp South Indian dosas, paneer butter masala and malai kofta from the North, Indo-Chinese, pizza, chaat and tandoori kebabs — 249 dishes across 18 sections, every one of them pure vegetarian, and the famous Kaveri Special Veg Thali at the centre of it all.

Thick shakes, desserts and the cold coffee Ranchi has queued for since the eighties — the sweet-shop roots still show. End every meal the way the regulars do, and nobody's in a hurry to leave.
